San Francisco's Legion of Honor

A little sketch I did of San Francisco's Legion of Honor. I joined a sketching group that gets together every month to sketch things around town. I've got to get out more. There's so many things to draw in this great city, just so little time.

Illustration Friday: Monster

Here's an ad that I illustrated several years ago.

Here's a pen & ink detail of some of the characters.

Notice it's for the then state of the art "AT Mother Board running DOS". For those of you that don't know, that's pretty ancient stuff ... (and therefore dates me). Sheesh - if I only had a nickel for everything that I know now. LOL.

SFG! Masthead

Here's a masthead I put together for my other blog. Jeff, the leader, is going to put a bunch of our mastheads together and create an animated one. Visit it sometime at www.sugarfrostedgoodness.com. It's a great bunch of talented artists. Doesn't it just make you want to get yourself a slice of cherry pie?

Illustration Friday: Feet

I wanted to show a dynamic foot doing something rather then lying flat on the ground. Here is what I came up with. It all started out with a foot that I liked and everything followed. My daughter asked me, "Why the four toes Daddy?" I told her that's the way it is in the cartoon world.

Illustration Friday: Thanksgiving

Can't you just taste the turkey between your lips? Mmm Mmm. Here's a fun drawing I drew for a Thanksgiving one year. It's one happy family at the Thanksgiving dinner table. I guess it just makes me smile. I could use a smile just about now. I hope it makes you smile too. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Newspaper Illustration: Ransack

I've just completed another newspaper illustration. It's about a girlfriend that "ransacks" her boyfriend's place only to find a receipt for cheetos and twinkies. Girl thing? Beats me, I'm just the artist. Feel free to comment. Thanks.

Illustration Friday: Tattoo

After working with the image for a while and watching the new movie "Zathura", it inspired me to create a nastalgic drawing. Thus, I colored it in Photoshop as an old sepia tone photograph complete with the white border. The heart of the tatoo is the only thing in color since this week's word is "tatoo". Notice the grease dripping off the spatula. Ham and eggs anyone?

2danimator goes 3D!

Well, this is my first 3D model using Autodesk Maya. It's a room that I storyboarded but never got around to animating. I still have to do the chairs, color, and then add some texture. We will see . . . stay tuned. One comment: Lighting is tough!

KALX Radio Sticker

Here's a sticker that I designed for a local radio station. Can you feel the vibes?

Here's one that didn't win. I guess they wanted something really different.

Little Dog with Pencil

Here's another Dog Picture. I've got Dogs on the Brain today. I guess that's a good thing.

Unconditional Doggie Love

A little sketch I did for all you Dog Lovers out there.

Illustration Friday: Insect

I painted this in a watercolor class I took at San Ramon Valley College. The collage was created by cutting images from magazines then painting it.
My thanks goes to Scott King, who is a great watercolor teacher. He taught me everything I know about watercolors.

Noah's Arc

On this Ash Wednesday, here's a biblical drawing of Noah's Arc. In order to get all the detail, it was done on a large 30" x 42" Strathmore illustration board using a .00 Koh-i-nor rapidograph ink pen. I drew it for a Childrens' Book Illustration course at UC Berkeley. Go Bears!!!
