Trumpet Player

We went to a outdoor concert tonight and I had time to sketch this little guy playing the trumpet. Too bad I didn't have time enough to draw the rest of the band.

Hippo / Birdy Drawing

Here's a drawing I did for a company that produces educational software for children ages 3-8. I haven't gotten the job yet, they just wanted a sample. Do you like the hippo?

Illustration Friday: Instinct

Here's my submission for this week's word: "Instinct". Also included are more gag cartoons for my 30 year high school class reunion.

Enjoy!

Annually, the guys put on a contest wearing womens' apparel (in drag and usually the athletes) to help get funds the Senior Class Prom. It was called the "Mr. Ugly Contest" and was a great way to raise money while creating lasting memories too.

Computers? Who ever knew (or even cared) what they were in the late 70's? Fast forward thirty years later, computers have done wonders with my artwork (especially Photoshop). Now I can't imagine working without 'em.

Illustration Friday: Celebrate

Here's another gag for my 30 year high school class reunion. I see it as a "celebration" complete with a punch bowl and streamers.

Here's another one I just completed. Hopefully no one is offended - it's not a bad looking kid; it's a good looking dog! Hee hee.

Illustration Friday: Flawed

This cook is happily putting her meal together but something just doesn't look all that right in that bowl of hers. This is something I drew for a company newsletter a few years back. Bon appetit y'all!

Illustration Friday: Pale

Carlos had all the answers. Laurie just sat there with a "pale" stare on her face.

Who can relate to Laurie? How many times has this happened to you? Believe me, I know exactly how Laurie feels because it happens to me all the time.

Illustration Friday: Contained

What is the opposite of being "contained"? Being free as a butterfly with two big crazy guys chasing you with long cloth nets wanting to "contain" you. Have a good week everyone.

Illustration Friday: Resolve

Happy 2009 everyone! Here's my first "Illustration Friday" submission for the year. I've been experimenting a little by to using traditionally inked brushwork for the lineart and Photoshop for the tones. Here's to another creative year filled with inspiration!

Illustration Friday: Clandestine

Here's something I drew for a clothing store company newsletter a couple of years back. The article was written for retail associates during the holiday season and how they were to beware of shoppers with large coats and kids in strollers. Can you see all the hidden articles of clothing?

Illustration Friday: Voices

Here's another sketch from "open mike" at a local coffee shop.

Sketchbook: Wheww

Sometimes you just have to chill! I've always liked this sketch in my sketchbook, so here it is. I like the looseness and confidence of the colors and line work of this watercolor sketch. It want to pursue this spontaneity in my future artwork. Merry Christmas everyone!

Illustration Friday: Rambunctious

Here's "Get Well Soon" graphic I drew for a friend of mine while recovering from a motorcycle spill. His initials are on the belt buckle. I hoped he took it in the right way and found the humor in it . . . which he did. Whewww!
