Illustration Friday: Cat

"Hey Daddio, Where's my Sax?", said the Cool Cat. Here's a little drawing I did using the masking tool in Adobe Illustrator for the first time.

The Ballad of "Juan Tamad"

"Juan Tamad" (translated in tagalog as "Lazy Juan") is a Filipino folklore character that inspired me to draw this piece. He is constantly trying to find ways to save himself from doing excess work. In this drawing, he is telling the crabs to get to his home, on their own, so he can sleep under his favorite guava tree.

Illustration Friday: Skyline

I live close to San Francisco. Here is something I drew using the latest version of Illustrator. It's new for me because I tried to get rid of the "cartoony" black lines that I usually put into my finished drawings. Thanks Joann Denning, my multimedia teacher, for introducing me to this new medium.

Here's the finished artwork on the CD cover for "I left my heart in San Francisco".

And for another assignment ... a book for Rip Van Winkle.

UN Poster, entry into the Media Arts Award Competition 2006

Whew. It's 2006 and as one of my resolutions at the beginning of the year, I wanted to begin contributing to this site. It will act somewhat of a "pseudo" client hounding me for more drawings. Hopefully, it will discipline me to produce more.

Here is a digital piece that I will be submitting to the Media Arts Award Competition 2006. It was also something that was displayed in the San Francisco BART trains for about 3 months!

Enjoy,
Vern
